10 things you need to know before applying to the TEDxBahcesehirUniversity Team!

Mert Can

Hello!

In this blog post we will tell you the 10 things you absolutely need to know before applying to the TEDxBahcesehirUniversity Team. Going into every interview well prepared about the organization/institution you're applying to will put you one step ahead of the other candidates. Remember, preparing well for the interview and thinking positively can change everything.

  1. Learn the details of TED, TEDx and TEDxBahcesehirUniversity thoroughly.

Learn from team members or online what the organization is and what it does, which departments there are, how often the event takes place, who is on the team and what the TEDxBahcesehirUniversity team is like.

  1. Check out the website and social media accounts

Be sure to visit the organization's website and look into its history, mission and vision, which departments it needs, and the posts it shares on its social media accounts. If you can, be sure to look at the tone TEDxBahcesehirUniversity uses with participants and learn by reading.

  1. Keep up with TED, TEDx and TEDxBahcesehirUniversity talks

Watching talk videos on the official TEDx YouTube channel - especially TEDxBahcesehirUniversity's, to get more ideas - and following them closely will help you answer any question we ask in the interview with more confidence.

  1. Above all, be fully confident!

Remember, your body language always gives you away. You should look and speak confidently. What you need to do is actually very simple. When you meet someone, stand up and be sure to shake hands. Make a point of smiling. Speak clearly and understandably. Mind how you sit: don't sprawl, sit up straight. That way you can have a confident, self-assured interview.

  1. Be modest!

There's no need to oversell yourself: let the other person decide whether you're good. Statements that make everything look great, like 'My friends say I'm the best at team building, the one who communicates best in the group, the person who gets things done most,' won't make you look good. Being modest never hurt anyone! You can still be great while being modest.

  1. Be patient!

You know that before applying to any organization you need to fill out an application form and take various tests. Remember, the people doing the team recruitment read these forms one by one and discuss them. So when you apply, try to fill out the form carefully and concisely. You can say a lot with a few words ☺

  1. Give good answers!

All you need to do to give good answers is focus on the facts about yourself, not on fiction. Draw attention to your achievements. Try to back up your experiences with examples.

  1. Tell the truth!

The best thing is to be yourself, and the worst is to try to be someone else. Never lie or try to be someone else or different from how you appear.

  1. Remember, you have 4 seconds to make a good first impression.

The results of hundreds of studies show that when you meet someone, you leave an impression on them within the first few seconds. These first impressions even play a decisive role in the future of the relationship. The point to watch here is to aim for first impressions to form the way you decide. If you always give off a strong and positive impression, your first impression will turn out the way you want.

  1. If your application is unsuccessful, it's not the end of the world!

When an application is unsuccessful we always look for someone to blame, or say it would have been better if I'd said this or that, but it's healthier to act knowing this fact. Hundreds of candidates apply every year, and organizations move forward with the candidates who fit and can contribute to their culture. This may show that perhaps being here wouldn't benefit or contribute to you. So don't stop! Join as many different organizations as you can and gain experience. Every new beginning will always move you one step forward.
