TEDxBahcesehirUniversity is a non-profit student organisation licensed by TED and run entirely by volunteers. The team includes not only Bahçeşehir University students but also alumni, students from other universities, working professionals and retirees.

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of discovering and spreading ideas, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxBahcesehirUniversity, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxBahcesehirUniversity event, TED Talks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. Speakers never pay to join a TEDx event. Consideration, speaker coaching and event participation along with attendance are all provided free of charge. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

How a year unfolds

  1. 1/7September

    Team recruitment

Hundreds apply every year: application form, tests and an interview. Every form is read one by one.

  2. 2/7Autumn

    Concept & departments

The curator and team leads set the year's concept. Speakers, Content & Social, Partnerships and IT teams get to work.

  3. 3/7Winter

    Finding speakers

Ideas worth spreading are picked from suggestions sent in through the form and from the team's own research.

  4. 4/7Feb – Mar

    Salon events

Smaller, more intimate Salon gatherings come before the main stage.

  5. 5/7March

    Rehearsals

Speakers rehearse with the team and get feedback at every round.

  6. 6/7April

    Stage day

The main event takes place: at Zorlu PSM from 2017 to 2022, and at BAU's Fazıl Say Hall since 2024.

  7. 7/7After

    Ideas spread

Talks go up on YouTube, and volunteer TED translators add subtitles.
