Elif Güngör Reis

Elif Güngör Reis was born in Istanbul in 1985. In 2007 she graduated from the Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering at Istanbul Technical University. She then completed a master’s degree in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Istanbul University, where she is currently pursuing her doctorate. Unable to find a job in the sector when she graduated in 2007, Elif Güngör Reis started selling food additives. In 2011 she developed a natural food preservative from eggshells, a first in Turkey and the world, and received Techno-Entrepreneurship Capital Support from the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology. Having run a TÜBİTAK TEYDEB project on the same subject in 2013 and won an award from İTÜ Çekirdek in 2014, Reis is currently the only producer in the sector making a domestic, harmless shelf-life extender.
