Emre Başkan

Born in Istanbul in 1980, Emre Başkan graduated from Saint-Joseph High School and from the Department of International Relations at Bilkent University. He initially planned to become a diplomat; however, he found the field too static for him and, through internships in Turkey and abroad, turned his focus to the private sector. In 2012 he completed the Executive MBA program run jointly by Sabancı and M.I.T. All the while, he tried to make time for sailing, which he first tried in 1999. In 2011 he began racing with Efes Sailing. After ending his career at Efes in 2013, he crossed the Atlantic Ocean. At the consultancy he founded, beyond conventional consulting, Emre Başkan built models that stand apart in the market and placed sailing at the center of this work. He now uses sailing as a management tool in a wide range of projects in Brand/Employer Brand Communication and Corporate Development. Beyond this, since 2013 he has shared his ideas and feelings on his blog Küçük Prens Denizlerde (The Little Prince at Sea).
